Wolwedans is situated in the NamibRand Nature Reserve, one of southern Africa’s largest private nature reserves, with almost 200.000 hectares of ground. This reserve lies south of the well-known Sossusvlei and is famous as one of Africa's most beautiful locations, because of the diversity of landscapes. You will find red sand dunes, high mountains and gold-coloured grass fields. When the NamibRand Nature Reserve just opened, there was nearly no wildlife. Nowadays the population stabilised and you have the opportunity to see many animal species such as zebras, giraffes, leopards, hyenas, cheetah and many more. Because the NamibRand Nature Reserve made clear agreements about the amount of accommodations are allowed to be built, you will not see many tourists: you will have the reserve practically for yourself!
Dune Camp
The Dune Camp is especially popular among adventurous travellers. The camp is located on the edge of a 250-metres high sand dune and offers space to 12 guests. The tents are built on wooden platforms and feature a private bathroom. If you want to, you can sleep under the stars on your own veranda.In the main tent you can relax in the lounge while a chef cooks you dinner, or you can enjoy a refreshing drink around the campfire. A minimum stay of two nights is required at Dune Camp, meals and a safari are included in the price. Children of all ages are welcome at Dune Camp.
Dunes Lodge
The Dunes Lodge is situated on a plateau on top of the dunes with a magnificent panoramic view of the desert. The lodge has the feel of a safari tent camp, but provides the comfort of a permanent building. The nine chalets are equipped with en-suite bathrooms and a veranda. The main building consists of two lounges, a fireplace, a library, a wine cellar and a pool to cool off. All meals are included in the price. Children of all ages are welcome at Dune Lodge.
Mountain View Suite
Within walking distance from Dunes Lodge lies the Mountain View Suite. This suite is secluded from the chalets at Dunes Lodge, so you will have more privacy, what makes it a perfect to stay with childeren. The Mountain View Suite features a spacious bedroom with king-size bed and a stunning view over the valley. You will also have your own patio where you can enjoy dinner or relax in the hammock. There also is a kitchen where you can prepare meals and on the veranda you will find another bed so you can sleep under the stars. Children of all ages are welcome at Mountain View Suite.
Boulders Safari Camp
The Boulders Safari Camp is one of the most exclusive camps in Wolwedans. This accommodation is situated between impressively huge boulders and accommodates eight guests, divided into four spacious tents. The main area includes a dining and lounge tent, an open fireplace, breakfast deck and a swimming pool. Boulders Safari Camp is the perfect base to explore the NamibRand Nature Reserve by, for example, going on a walking safari! In addition, the Boulders Safari Camp is a perfect accommodation if you travel with eight people and want to enjoy the exclusivity of your own camp. All meals are included within the price. Children of all ages are welcome at Boulders Safari Camp.
Private Camp
At Private Camp you will not have to worry about anything else than to enjoy the changing colours of the desert. Private Camp is situated in a quiet and idyllic valley and accommodates up to four guests. As this private accommodation lies in a valley, you will have beautiful 360° panoramic views around you. The main area consists among other things of a dining room, a kitchen, a lounge and a pool. All meals are included within the price and in addition you can enjoy activities such as an air balloon flight or a walk in the nature. Children of all ages are welcome at Private Camp.
