Windhoek is the capital and the largest city of Namibia and is situated between the Khomas Highland, Auas and Eros Mountains. Windhoek is the geographic centre of the country and is the city where most safaris travelling through Namibia begin. Despite the large increase of population over the last few years, the city centre is extremely clean and mostly trouble free. Tourists often mention the cleanliness of the city, and call it the most un-African city. During the day Windhoek has a European cafe culture, German cuisine dominates, but Namibian influence can be found in the quantity and quality of meat on offer. A well-constructed and regularly maintained road network provides access to the majority of towns, nature reserves, parks, safari lodges and tourist destinations in the country.
The bungalows at Ondekaremba Lodge nestle under tall trees on the banks of a dry river called Seeis River. Surrounded by the African bush savannah, they are only a 10-minute-drive away from Hosea Kutako International Airport and offer transfers to and from the airport. The thick walls of the main house built from self-quarried quartz blocks are reminiscent of the pioneering times of farming more than 100 years ago. Nowadays it houses a restaurant and bar. Other facilities include a swimming pool, free WLAN and internet corner and good cellular network covarage. When at Ondekaremba Lodge you can explore the African bush savannah on foot during the Savannah Trails. Children of all ages are welcome at Ondekaremba Lodge.
