T.I.A. stands for This is Africa
Part of its charm, it refers to the fact that in Africa sometimes things go wrong. We ask you to join us and be patient in these situations. Often there is no choice but to laugh, and simply say: This Is Africa!

Tailor Made Safaris is proud of the fact that our tours are always perfectly arranged, with backup plans for many unforeseen circumstances. Unfortunately, in some instances, we are powerless. To help manage your expectations and prepare you for your upcoming adventures, here's a few things you may encounter and our top tips on how to deal with them:
Power failuresThese occur from time to time whether scheduled or due to storm damage. The length of these power outages varies, though in the event of a scheduled power cut your accommodation should be able to advise you when the lights will come back on. All accommodations will have candles, we suggest that you familiarise yourself with their location on arrival. Some lodges or bush camps only have electricity at certain times of the day. Please ask for the schedule on arrival. Don’t forget to bring a torch! |
RestaurantsFood might not always meet your expectations. You may encounter slow service, limited menu availability, and soggy chips! To prevent disappointment or frustrations, allow plenty of time for meals and ask for your chips to be well done. That said, food at luxury lodges and 4-star guesthouses is exquisite and you will definitely not be disappointed |
Water shortagesUnfortunately, due to the ongoing drought situation, water shortages do occur. Most accommodations have back up plans for this; however, in extreme circumstances running water may not be available in some provincial parks. We ask that throughout your stay you use water sparingly and that you always have enough drinking water with you. |
