Are you a nature lover and want to visit the dramatic mountain landscape, waterfalls and forest of north-west Swaziland? At Phophonyane Falls Nature Reserve you will find outstanding views and landscapes. Most remarkable is the Phophonyane River, which tumbles down for a few hundred metres in a series of cascades and pools. Phophonyane Falls Nature Reserve falls within the Barbeton Centre of Plant Endemism and protect the rich biodiversity of the increasingly threatened middleveld habitat. The reserve is 600 ha and there have been 240 different bird species counted, including the most elusive Narina Trogon.
Phophonyane Falls Ecolodge
Phophonyane Falls Ecolodge is designed for discerning travellers and nature lovers who want to stay in a little paradise. This 3-star accommodation has different types of rooms including ‘beehives’: a traditional Swazi accommodation, cottages and tents. The lodge is set in a large tropical garden between running streams, ponds and waterways. All cottages are equipped with kitchen, en-suite bathroom, braai (BBQ) facilities, fireplace and a large private garden. All Beehives have en-suite bathrooms, made of ceramics and artwork. All tents are set on the edge of the river and share a kitchen, lounge and balcony but have a private seperate bathroom with shower. The lodge offers guided walks, guided 4x4 drives, visits to the Nsangwini rock art centre or follow the signs to the Goblondlo ridge trail. Children of all ages are welcome at Phophonyane Falls Ecolodge.
