Mkhuze Game Reserve, established in 1912, forms a portion of South Africa's first UNESCO World Heritage Site; the iSimangaliso Wetland Park. Best known for its diversity, Mkhuze Game Reserve boasts over 420 species of bird, the Big-5 (buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion and rhino), African wild dog, cheetah, giraffe, hippo, hyaena, warthog, and a variety of antelope species. Also found within the reserve are award winning game-viewing hides, superbly positioned above waterholes to provide an incredible vantage point for thirsty animals coming to drink and bathe. For visitors looking to experience the bush on foot, Mkhuze Game Reserve offers an enchanting guided ‘Fig Forest’ walk, enabling visitors to delve into the exquisite, unspoilt fig tree forest found along the Mkhuze River. 

Mantuma Camp

Situated in the heart of Mkhuze Game Reserve, Mantuma Camp offers a selection of two to six bedded chalets and safari tents, each equipped with a kitchen and private bathroom. There is a take-away restaurant on site, but as it is not always open, we recommend guests plan to self-cater during their stay at Mantuma Camp. Designed to blend in with nature, the chalets and tents are of a basic 3-star standard; they are clean and comfortable but in no way luxurious. Mantuma Camp is perfect for guests looking for accommodation within the park. Children of all ages are welcomed at Mantuma Camp. 

Ghost Mountain Inn
Ghost Mountain Inn is a great option for travellers with a taste for luxury. This 4 star rated accommodation is located just outside Mkhuze Game Reserve at the foot of the legendary Ghost Mountain. Guests who are not out on game drives can enjoy a range of relaxing treatments at the spa, or make use of Ghost Mountain Inn’s excellent facilities, which include a steam room, outdoor pool, and lush gardens overlooking Lake Jozini. Breakfast is included, and at the on site restaurant visitors can indulge in delicious meals, all cooked with fresh ingredients. Children of all ages are welcome at Ghost Mountain Inn and babysitting services are also available.
