The Manyoni Private Game Reserve, previously known as Zululand Rhino Reserve, offers one of the best wildlife experiences on the Elephant Coast. The reserve has all of the Big 5, along with the endangered black rhino, cheetah and African wild dog. The scenery of the Manyoni Private Game Reserve is beautiful with rolling grasslands and spectacular sandy river beds surrounded by magical fig trees. With no tar road in sight you will know that you have had a true African safari experience. The reserve has similar ecosystems as Hluhluwe-iMfolozi, but offers a private reserve experience. Here you will find a larger road network and far less vehicles as only guided game drives are allowed. Each lodge has several excellent guides who will show you the reserve and provide you with vast amounts of knowledge about the fauna and flora. Cooperation between the guides helps ensure that you will get the best possible sightings during your stay. All of the lodges on Manyoni Private Game Reserve offer 2 guided game drives a day, an early morning drive and late afternoon drive.
Leopard Mountain Game LodgeLeopard Mountain Game Lodge is an award winning 4-star luxurious lodge with spectacular views of the reserve. With only 9 luxurious suites, each with its own private plunge pool, an exclusive experience is guaranteed. Leopard Mountain Game Lodge has also won awards for its fine cuisine and exceptional service. Excellent wines from the Leopard Mountain Cellar will accompany delicious meals. The Spa at Leopard Mountain Game Lodge offers guests the chance to be fully pampered and relaxed between game drives during their stay. The lodge also offers a mid-day waterhole experience, during which you can visit their hide and enjoy watching an array of animals come to drink. All meals are included during your stay. Mavela Game Lodge
Mavela Game Lodge offers an authentic bush camp experience, with accommodation in luxurious safari tents. The five safari tents overlook the reserve, with no fences, allowing all of the local wildlife to wonder through the camp. With only five tents this lodge guarantees an exclusive and tranquil bush ambiance. The Lodge itself has a wonderful communal area, with a deck and swimming pool. Inside you will enjoy a typical African Lodge atmosphere and a fantastic second story bar overlooking the reserve. Fine cuisine is served, with brunch, high tea and dinner served everyday. Mavela Game Lodge is similarly priced as Leopard Mountain Game Lodge; however, at Mavela Game Lodge you will also find that all of your drinks are included. At Leopard Mountain Game Lodge drinks are for your own account. With excellent and highly qualified guides, the lodge attracts many birding and wildlife enthusiasts. Children over 12 are welcome at Mavela Game Lodge.
Rhino River Lodge
Rhino River Lodge offers an intimate and family friendly safari experience in luxurious accommodation. The lodge has several different units, with four double rooms, and two cottages that can each accommodate four guests. The lodge is located on the banks of the Msunduze River and surrounded by thick riverine vegetation. In the grounds you will see and array of bird and animal life and be impressed by the majestic fig and fever trees. All meals are included and served under the stars, weather permitting or in the homely dining room with beautiful views. Rhino River Lodge has a great pool area to relax at between game drives. Children of all ages are welcomed at Rhino River Lodge; however, children under 4 are not permitted on game drives. Baby sitting services are available or alternately a private game drive can be booked for families with children under 4, at an additional cost.
African Spirit Game Lodge
African Spirit Game Lodge offers quality 3-star accommodation within the Manyoni Private Game Reserve, making it suitable for those with a slightly tighter budget. The lodge offers fully catered or self-catering accommodation, with four double en-suite rooms and two self-catering units available. African Spirit’s main lodge has a relaxed dining room, cosy lounge and a lovely swimming pool to relax at between game drives. Local cooks prepare authentic South African cuisine, ensuring that no one goes hungry during their stay. Children of all ages are welcome at the lodge. Packages with one or two game drives daily are possible with African Spirit Game Lodge.
Bayete Zulu Lodge
Bayete Zulu self catering Lodge offers eight luxury rooms. Each room features an en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning and a fully stocked mini bar.
