The Panorama Route starts at Sabie and stretches to the Erasmus pass. Near Sabie, Graskop and the Erasmus pass the plateau suddenly ends creating some spectacular scenery. Numerous waterfalls, canyons and deep abysses occur here, making the Blyde River Canyon one of South Africa’s most visited geological attractions. The route is extremely green due to the high level of rainfall; around 1200 millimetres a year. The best period to visit the Blyde River Canyon is form April until August, as it is the dry season. September until March, there is a higher chance of rain and it can get very misty, which can ruin the views. The Blyde River Canyon has many breath-taking natural and fascinating historical attractions, so it is best to allow at least 1 day to explore the magnificent Panorama Route! Famous look out points are The Three Rondavels, Bourke's Luck Potholes and God’s Window from where visitors have an amazing view of the surroundings.
